Wine of Stellenbosch, South Africa. One Hundred & Twenty Barrels Produced.Cradled in the foothills of the Hottentot Mountains, overlooking stunning False Bay is Journeys End - the Gabb Family Winery. The 'Sir Lowry' Cabernet Sauvignon is named after Sir Galbraith Lowry Cole, born 1 May 1772 in England - a romantic pioneer, who became Governor of the Cape from 1828-33. During his tenure, Sir Lowry brought immense progress to our local community with the building of Sir Lowry's Pass which opened up the Southern Cape to trade. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in vineyards influenced by cool breezes coming off False Bay. Low yielding vines were hand-picked, with fruit cold-soaked for 72 hours prior to fermentation in open fermenters. 18 months maturation in 3001 French oak barrels has produced a wine with exceptional depth and complexity, that drinks well now and will cellar for up to 10 years.
