    The original Bloody Mary

    There are different claims as to who and when this 'hair of the dog' cocktail was invented, but most seem to agree it began life in New York City, USA and possibly named after Queen Mary I of England or Hollywood star Mary Pickford.

    Serves: 1


    • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives
    • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh coriander
    • 2 medium plum tomatoes
    • 25ml fresh lemon juice
    • 50ml Absolut Citron
    • 10ml fino sherry
    • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh basil
    • 2 dashes of jalapeño Tabasco
    • Large dash Worcestershire sauce
    • Pinch of sea salt
    • Large pinch of celery salt
    • Good grinding of black pepper
    • 2 sticks celery, to garnish


    1. Blend the tomatoes and lemon juice in a blender. Add the other ingredients and shake in a cocktail shaker.
    2. Serve cold and garnish with celery sticks.
