Baked beans

Baked beans

Canned baked beans are sold ready-cooked in a smooth tomato sauce. Haricot beans are the beans used in canned baked beans. Waitrose stock a variety of baked beans in tomato sauce including: Waitrose Baked Beans; Waitrose Organic Baked Beans; Waitrose Reduced Sugar and Reduced Salt Baked Beans; Heinz Baked Beans; Weight Watchers Baked Beans and Whole Earth Organic Baked Beans.

Uses:
Baked beans can be served as an accompaniment to a wide variety of foods and are especially popular with children. Try them served on toast, as part of a full English breakfast or in vegetable bakes and casseroles.

To store:
Keep in a cool, dry place and consume by the best before date. Once opened transfer the contents to a non-metallic container, cover, refrigerate and use within 2 days.

To heat:
Empty the contents into a pan and heat gently, stirring occasionally. Check that the food is piping hot throughout before serving. To heat in a microwave oven, empty the contents into a microwave dish and cover. Follow the instructions on the can for specific cooking times (this will depend on the wattage of the oven you are using). Once heated, allow the beans to stand for 1 minute. Check that they are piping hot throughout, if not re-cover and heat for a further brief period. Stir before serving. Do not boil or overcook the beans or this will impair the flavour.
