Food glossary



A cognac-based herbal liqueur, that was allegedly named after the French monk who first made it. It is a golden coloured liquid with a subtle honey flavour. The essential flavouring ingredients are a well-kept secret but Bénédictine is thought to contain over 70 individual ingredients. It is traditionally served in a large liqueur or brandy glass after a meal but it can be served with ice to counteract the sweet flavour.
